Returning
Glory is preparing for the Fall 2009 Circle The Wagons.
Please continue to check in on the upcoming event.
Details will be posted as they become available.
During the great westward migration, many
wilderness settlers traveled by wagon on the Oregon and
Sante Fe trails to the land of opportunity in the
western United States. These settlers often joined
with many others and journeyed together in wagon trains
led by an experienced trail boss. In the evening,
the travelers would often “circle the wagons” to provide
protection against the many dangers of the trail, as
well as providing an environment for the settlers to
share a meal, talk about the events of the day, and plan
for tomorrow’s journey. It was a time of
thanksgiving for the provision of the day and an
opportunity for fellowship and encouragement.
It is in this pioneer spirit that we have
initiated a call to “circle the wagons”.
Understanding that many of you are (or desire to be)
involved in some type of ministry involving horses,
hurting individuals, youth at risk, families at risk, or
select ministry groups, we felt a desire to invite
fellow travelers on God’s trail to gather together and
be encouraged, receive timely instruction or
information, and to plan for the on-going journey.
We are unaware of any gathering of this type, where
like-minded ministries can gather as one body to share
what God has planned for us as individual ministries,
but also to discern what God is doing.
Returning Glory hosted Lew
Sterrett for our fall 2008 Circle the Wagons.
Attendants
watched as he worked with horses of various stages from
trained to untrained. They listened as he explained how
the horse understands what the trainer is communicating
and make the decision whether to follow the guidance or
not. They observed life lessons from the language of the
horse and saw horses go from stiff and resistant to
supple and willing. We all had a great time watching
horses make changes to their thinking that parallel the
changes we make in our life decisions.

to have Lew Sterrett of
